Winter Into Spring

It's been a fabulous winter for cross country skiing, but the snow base is melting and the sap is getting ready to run.

This is the old sugar house on Villa Mir farm, where the Kovacs used to boil sap collected in buckets.

These days, a neighbor taps and collects syrup from the maple trees on Villa Mir farm with tubing that criss crosses the woods and dumps the sap into collection tanks.  A much less laborious process!
